Fire destroys building and spare parts workshop in Lagos


Multi-million naira worth of goods destroyed in a fire that destroyed a parts building, Certi-Fit Auto Parts Limited, and a furniture workshop in Ladipo area, Lagos State .

The fire broke out at around 11 p.m. on Sunday and raged until the early hours of Monday.

PUNCH Metro learned that the fire started as a result of an electrical spark originating in the furniture workshop, which spread to the parts building.

The southwest coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the incident, added that there were no casualties.

He said: “The fire involved a three-story building. The building’s security fortification created a serious barrier to accessing the building, which was already showing signs of security issues. The building would contain an assortment of Toyota auto parts.

“The fire started in a furniture workshop behind the building with an electric spark at around 10:45 pm.”

In addition to NEMA, other emergency responders at the scene were the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Fire Departments, Federal Fire Departments and Police.
