GTC Promise 2 Finish Virtual Workshops Set Up To Help Students Apply By August 6 Deadline | Local News

Gateway Technical College has scheduled three online workshops for potential students interested in registering for its Promise 2 Finish program by the August 6 application deadline.

The price of a college education keeps increasing, unlike the minimum wage and the number of hours per day. Here are how many hours per week a student should be working to cover their tuition and other fees. Johana Restrepo from PennyGem has more.

The program offers adults who have earned 12 or more college credits and have been out of college for at least two years the opportunity to complete their degree tuition-free, according to university officials.

Virtual workshops are planned:

• 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday July 19

• 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., August 3

Participation in the workshop is not required to register for the program. Gateway staff will be on hand to help participants learn about program requirements and provide them with the opportunity to complete an application for free admission and financial aid.

To be eligible, students must:

• Be 23 years of age or over on January 1, 2021 (born before January 1, 1998).

• Have obtained at least 12 university credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

• Have been out of university for at least two years (have attended before August 30, 2019), but have not obtained an associate’s or bachelor’s degree (a technical diploma or certificate is acceptable)
