Kregel Windmill Factory Museum Installs Windmill at Nebraska State Fairgrounds – Nebraska City News Press

The Kregel Windmill Factory Museum and the Nebraska State Fair have launched a brand new partnership called the “Saving Farm Culture Initiative”, which is a 10-year partnership commitment between the Nebraska State Fair, the Kregel Windmill Factory Museum and the greater Nebraska community. which aims to preserve Nebraska’s history and agricultural heritage through the use of windmills and educational community programs.

The museum and fair celebrated this exciting initiative by raising and installing an all-new “American West 902” wind turbine wheel, motor and tail on an existing “Fairbury” steel tower on Tuesday, August 9, at Grand Island exhibits.

“Originally there was a beautiful Fairbury standing here, but earlier this year a windstorm damaged the engine beyond repair, so now we have a neat hybrid mill,” said Issiaih Yott, executive director of the Kregel Windmill Factory Museum.

“Also keep an eye out for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 as the Kregel Museum will be installing a 1920’s ‘ELI’ Windmill right next to this one for all to enjoy!” Yott said.

Permanent outdoor educational signage will further inform the public about all the windmills located on the site.

Yott thanked Shane’s Pump and Windmill Service, MRL Crane Co, the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation and Roberts Pump and Supply for their work installing the wind turbine on Grand Island.
