Oscar-winning design studio Framestore has appointed Lawrence Jones Creative Director, Real-Time Supervisor in an effort to expand the creative leadership team in the immersive and VFX departments in New York City.
Reporting to New York General Manager Charles Howell and U.S. Immersion Manager Christine Cattano, Jones will work closely with clients, as well as Framestore’s list of directors and artist teams to convey its expertise in real-time and virtual workflows, with a particular focus on game engine technology.
Jones brings to Framestore more than 20 years of experience in visual effects, movement and design in the entertainment, sports and interactivity industries, as well as a unique expertise in developing technologies in real-time and virtual production techniques for use in television production and live events. It has received numerous awards, including an Emmy for Outstanding Graphic Design of Live Events for ESPN’s X Games in 2014, as well as a Lumière Award for the best use of augmented reality in a live broadcast. live for Madonna and Maluna’s hologram performance on Billboard. Prior to joining Framestore, Jones spent time at Psyop and BUCK as a Virtual Production Supervisor, where he designed blueprints, led technical visualization, provided real-time supervision and on-site virtual production oversight for a range of advertising projects. At Sequin AR, he assumed the role of Executive Creative Director where he pushed for unique virtual production and real-time VFX applications, while leading the creation and development of mixed reality and AR for broadcast projects in direct for Madonna and NBC.
At The Future Group as Executive Creative Director, Jones led the creation and development of many award-winning, live-to-final-pixel virtual production experiences, and prior to that he spent over 11 years at ESPN, most recently as as Creative Director, VFX Supervisor.

Jones graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, followed by the Rhode Island School of Design where he studied computer design and animation. He is currently Virtual Production Manager for TEDxCambridge.
