One man killed and five injured in factory roof collapse


LAHORE: A young man was killed and five others were injured when the roof of a factory collapsed on Saturday near Droghawala in Baghbanpura region.

The victim identified as Hamza, 25, died at the scene after being crushed under the rubble of the factory roof. Rescue-1122 teams rescued the five injured and transported them to hospital for immediate medical treatment.

The injured were identified as Sarwar Maqbool, 40, Waleed Sharif, 14, Zulifqar Amanat, 45, Amir Siddique, 39, Shahbaz Mukhtar, 35. However, the reasons for the roof collapse could not be determined.

Man found dead: A 40-year-old man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate area on Saturday. Police say the man, who has not yet been identified, was a drug addict who could have died from excessive drug use. Passers-by spotted the body and informed the police. The body was transferred to the morgue.

Speeding van crushes motorcyclist: An unidentified motorcyclist was killed by a speeding van near the town of Shadiwal Johar on Saturday. A patrol officer arrested the driver of the accused van and handed him over to the police. The body of the deceased was transferred to the morgue.

Man arrested for making videos of women: Police in Harbanspura have arrested a man for making videos of women walking and traveling on motorbikes.

The accused was identified as Rashid. The police seized the accused’s mobile phone and registered a case against him.

261 road accidents in the city: The Punjab Emergency Services Department (ESDP) has responded to 1,124 road accidents across the 37 districts of Punjab in the past 24 hours.

In these road accidents, 16 people died, while 1273 were injured. Of this number, 776 people were seriously injured and were transferred to various hospitals. Whereas, 497 minor injured rescue medical teams, reducing the burden on hospitals, treated the victims at the incident site.

The majority (73%) involved motorcycles. Therefore, effective traffic enforcement and lane discipline is key to reducing this and increasing the number of traffic accidents.

Statistics show that 261 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 280 people placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 80 in Faisalabad with 83 casualties and third in Multan with 79 road accidents and 76 casualties.

Motorcyclist killed: A motorcyclist was killed and a female driver was injured in two traffic accidents on the Sherpao Bridge on Saturday.

According to the police, a car and a motorcycle collided on the Sherpao Bridge in the afternoon, following which the motorcyclist fell from the bridge and died on the spot. The car overturned due to high speed. A boy named Ammar was in the car with a woman. The police arrested the driver of the car and took the body to the morgue. Meanwhile, a high-speed vehicle overturned on Sherpao Bridge in the morning, injuring the female driver who was rushed to hospital. Police said the vehicle spun out of control and collided with a splitter and overturned.

Boy reunited with his family: Shahdara Police reunited a 15-year-old boy on the run with his family.

The boy identified as Imran Ali had left his house after being reprimanded by his parents. The boy’s father had registered a kidnapping case at Shahdara police station.
