QU-CENG holds the 6th Medicine Engineering Workshop

Doha: The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) of Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) recently organized the 6th QU-Engineering in Medicine workshop. The event took place online under the theme “Engineering approaches in cancer research, diagnosis and treatment”.

Attending the event were CENG Associate Dean for Research and Postgraduate Programs, Prof. Ahmed Masoud, Medical Director of Hamad Hospital, Dr. Yousuf Maslamani. Keynote speakers included Professor Rashid Bashir, Dean of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Professor Paul Weiss, Founding Editor of ACS Nano, and Professor Thomas Webster, Founding Editor from the International Journal of Nanomedicine, as well as speakers and participants from different countries.

The main objective of the workshop was to bring together clinicians, scientists, engineers and researchers to share the latest advances in engineering approaches to fight cancer.

Dr. Anwarul Hasan, Associate Professor at MIE-QU-CENG, chaired the workshop. Distinguished speakers for the two-day workshop included Dr. Yu Shrike Zhang and Dr. Su-Ryon Shin from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Mehdi Nikkhah from Arizona State University, Dr. Nureddin Ashammakhi from University of California Los Angeles and Michigan State University. , Dr. Akhilesh Gaharwar from Texas A&M University, College Station, and several speakers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, etc.

In his comment, MIE Department Chair, Professor Dr. Elsadig Mahdi Ahmed Saad said the department was proud to have organized the event which shows that QU researchers produce high quality research to solve problems. related to human health through interdisciplinary research.
