How to win and get perfect scores in Rune Factory 5's Buff-a-move contest.
  • Summer 11 – Buff-a-Move

  • 11 a.m. at the Festival Park
    • To win the Buff-a-Move festival, you’ll need to dodge Buffamoo with the R button dash to rack up points. Dodging yellow Buffamoo scores a standard number of points, while grays score even more. Blue is worth the most, but they are fast so be careful. The closer the Buffamoo gets before jumping, the better, and last-second dodges earn bonus points.

The pace picks up as the clock slows down, and more Buffamoo appear as more are dodged. Try to reach over 17,000 points to secure a win.

To win Buddy Battle in Rune Factory 5, you will need to choose a team of two monsters to lead into battle.
  • Summer 15 – Buddy Battle

  • 11 a.m. at the Festival Park
  • Issued through directives
    • On the morning of the festival, catch two of your tamed monsters and invite them to join your party. Be sure to select the two strongest, as they will face off against another group to see who gets eliminated first or who finishes with the lowest HP. There are three one-minute rounds and your team is healed between rounds, but a loss means you are permanently out.

Losing the first round means you won’t be placed at all, while winning one should earn you the third. Two wins puts your party in second place and, of course, scoring a win within three turns puts your monsters in first place in the festival.

  • Winter 3 – Brawl in the Snow

  • 11 a.m. at the Festival Park
  • Issued through directives
    • Snow Brawl is a race to make your ball as big as possible before time runs out, rolling it around and dodging monsters as you go. Running into one of the obstacles causes your snowball to fall in size. Crush as many other snowballs as possible for extra points, they provide the following bonuses:
      • Purple Snowball: Accelerate
      • Small Blue Snowball: Small Size Increase
      • Medium green snowball: increased average size
      • Large Golden Snowball: Significant size increase
    • For the first year, a score over 3.00m should win the festival.
  • Winter 13 – Squid Catching Contest

  • 11 a.m. at the Festival Park
  • Issued through directives
    • As the name suggests, only squids count towards the final score of this festival. The goal is to catch as many squids as possible before it’s all over, so run around Rigbarth, dungeons, and wherever the squids hide. Return to the festival grounds between 5 and 6 p.m. to reveal the winner, remember to show up after 6 disqualifies you.

For the first year, to win first place, you will need at least 8 squids. We had no trouble catching so many using the beginner’s pole on Rigbarth’s southeast beach. It gets harder to get in future years, so keep upgrading your fishing rod and take note of where the squid hang out.
