Spotlight on Innovative Works in Park City

American cinematographer moderates filmmakers’ discussions, examining new and unique perspectives.

As the 2022 Sundance Film Festival once again showcases innovative and captivating projects, Canon, the event’s official sponsor, has reached out to participating filmmakers to share their stories with a global audience.

Here are this year’s talks:

Spotlight on FALL: The case against Boeing
Rory Kennedy (director/producer), Graham Willoughby (cinematographer) and Shana Hagan, ASC (additional cinematographer) walk us through their journey to create an in-depth investigation into the crashes of Lion Air Flight 610 and of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 Victims’ families recount the human cost of these tragedies, while aviation experts and former Boeing employees reveal what went wrong at the company, with decisions on the deployment of the 737 Max, offering overwhelming evidence of lies, negligence and cover-up. Including the limitations and variables imposed by a global pandemic. Moderated by THAT Technical Writer Jay Holben.

Spotlight on SIRENS
We go behind the scenes in this film about five bandmates who form a beacon of expression, resistance and independence amid the political turmoil and heartbreaking heartbreak of Beirut. Rita Baghdadi (director, producer and cinematographer), Camilla Hall (producer) and Grace Zarah (editor) will take us through what it was like to capture this powerful story. Moderated by THAT contributor Iain Marcks.
