The Mackinaw City Area Arts Council will host the “WaterCOLOR” workshop

MACKINAW CITY – The Mackinaw City Area Arts Council recently announced a WaterCOLOR workshop taught by Michigan Watercolor Society member Pamela Wilburn on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12.

Wilburn will teach you how to use color and value to enhance your paintings and take them to the next level. Project techniques will include: still life, abstract with leaves and color mixing exercises.

“I love the luminosity and unpredictability of watercolours; they have their own mind. I’ve learned, over the years, that I can’t control them, I just learn to work with them,” Wilburn said.

Wilburn holds a Bachelor of Arts Education with a concentration in Commercial Art. She was also a commercial artist and an art teacher in private and public schools.

All skill levels are welcome. The workshop will be limited to 15 participants and will take place at the Mackinaw Woman’s Club at 310 E. Jamet in Mackinaw City.

Workshop fees are $125 for members and $150 for non-members. 2022 subscriptions can be purchased for $25 for an individual or $35 for a family. Participants will need to bring three pieces of paper (approximately 11×14”) as well as their palette already installed and a variety of brushes. If you are new to watercolour, the arts council can put together a kit for you. To be specified when registering for the course. To register, call (231) 412-2787.
