Thursday pottery workshops for adults and children start at LACA this week

LUDINGTON – The Ludington Area Center for the Arts and Mary Case will begin their pottery workshops Thursday for adults and children. The workshops start October 7 and run until November 18.

Pottery sessions for adults will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the LACA pottery studio allowing students to design, create and varnish their project.

During each session, Case will guide students through the creative process choosing from 20 clay project options, including: slab cup, slab vase, clay box, clay tumblers, clay tray, mug. clay, multiple mini platters, sushi tray, coffee mug, flower applique, bird bath, tray with handles, clay cups, coil pots, coasters, bird feeder, birdhouse, bowl of berries, wall art garden table top or garden table top.


No experience is required. Help and help with the idea will be provided. All materials are included.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the course is limited to eight people. Face masks are appreciated but not required. The cost is $ 28 for LACA members and $ 33 for non-members per workshop session. Register online at ludingtonartscenter.square.site/workshops or call 231-845-2787.

LACA’s After School Multimedia Art Workshop is designed for children ages 5-15 to create a variety of clay and paint projects, and even learn how to use the potter’s wheel.

During the workshop, Case will guide children through the process of creating unique projects while building students’ skills and confidence. The curriculum is designed to offer projects that allow open outcomes so that children can have personal choices in their artistic experience.

The workshops take place on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the LACA pottery workshop. The cost per session is $ 18 for LACA members and $ 23 for non-members. Register online at ludingtonartscenter.square.site/workshops or call 231-845-2787.
