The construction process has been supported by a range of Luxembourg construction and engineering companies and, now complete, will create an additional 150 jobs.
The extension project was carried out in phases and received an investment of 15 million euros, part of which was funded by the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Phases 1 and 2 of the project saw the construction of new production halls and the optimization of the existing floor space, which will allow B Medical Systems to double its production capacity of the vaccine cold chain units and to quintuple the production capacity of ultra-low freezers.
The new production hall includes assembly lines, end-of-test lines and packaging sections and was completed in July 2021. B Medical Systems is now moving into phase three of the project, which will see the development of a new warehouse and office space, and is expected to be completed by the end of November this year.
