Veidekke signed a contract with Siva Morrow Eyde Energipark AS for the construction of battery factory 1 at Eyde Energy Park in the municipality of Arenal.
The contract is a design and build contract with a value just below NOK 400 million without VAT.

It will be one of the first commercial battery cell factories in Norway. With its access to renewable energy, it will be able to produce some of the most durable batteries in the world from day one. When commissioned, the plant will have an annual battery cell production capacity of 1 GWh, but once the planned construction phases are completed, capacity will reach 43 GWh, equivalent to demand for more than 700 000 electric cars.

battery factory 1 will have a gross floor area of almost 30,000 m2 and will be built in a partnership between Veidekke Logistikkbygg and Veidekke Bygg Agder. Construction work will begin in the coming weeks.
